Edward is a devoted Steelers fan, starting in 1979 when he was 8 years old. He was inspired by both his father and the Coca-Cola commercial with Mean Joe Greene and the kid (click here to watch).
He is retired military veteran who proudly served the United States Army for over 20 years. Throughout years of living and traveling in different parts of the United States and the rest of the world, Edward met many Steelers fans and found nice Steeler fan gatherings. Through these experiences, Edward also realized the challenges of finding a good company of people.
Being a Steelers fan has also given Edward opportunities to encounter former Steelers players Merrill Hodge, Santonio Holmes, and Rocky Blier back in 2018.
Edward Rundt decided to go forward with becoming a visionary Founder and Owner of the Black and Gold of Jax Beaches with the inaugural date on Saturday, January 4, 2025. Although the Steelers lost to the hated Bengals that day, Edward did not allow this to be a setback. His goals are to not only create a fan club—he seeks to develop a vibrant community of Pittsburgh football, hockey, and baseball fans.
Recognizing the large number of Pittsburgh expatriates and fans (living in and pasting through) Northeast Florida (also known as the First Coast), Edward created this organization to be the official hub for all Steelers (also Penguins, and Pirates) watch parties. His goal is to foster an inclusive, welcoming atmosphere where both long-time residents and visitors can instantly feel connected to the Steel Nation family while celebrating their shared passion for the Black and Gold.
When the Steelers are not playing, Edward, as a lifelong bachelor, keeps himself productively occupied in activities that include going to the gym, cross-training, hiking, dancing (including Ballroom, Latin, and Swing), spending time with friends, being involved with family, and community outreach including church and volunteers as a teacher English as a Second Language (ESL).
