The bitter playoff loss to the Ravens in January 2025 did not dampen our spirits. This rather fired up my determination to lay down the construction of what our club was to become.
Our first year operating independently as the Black and Gold of Jax Beaches was more than just a new beginning—it was the foundation upon which our future would be built. As 2025 turned into 2026, our vision became action, and we learned to stand on our own, strengthen our identity, and establish traditions that will carry us forward. Like laying the first stones of a lasting structure, every gathering, challenge, and victory became part of our foundation. During the offseason, just as the Pittsburgh Steelers prepared for the season ahead, we were building our own — designing club T-shirts, creating signs and banners, and expanding our presence through social media — each effort a small but essential brick in constructing something strong and lasting for the Black and Gold of Jax Beaches.
The 2025 season was a roller coaster of highs and lows, ultimately marking the final year of Mike Tomlin as head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers. During the season opener on Sunday, September 7, 2025, against the New York Jets, the Black and Gold of Jax Beaches was featured by Fox 30 Action Jax News for their “Jags Social” segment. Even while covering Jaguars fans, the crew captured our black-and-gold pride — a powerful reminder that Steelers Nation’s presence extends far beyond Pittsburgh, reaching all the way to the beaches of Jacksonville, Florida. During the season, there were many Steelers fans visiting Jacksonville who were looking for a place where they could watch a Steelers game and have a good time. This past year, the Fan Blitz was included in our club website. I added this feature to include Steelers fans, whether club members, newcomers and visitors and make them an important part of the Black and Gold of Jax Beaches.
Mike Tomlin departure as Head Coach of the Steelers, in January 2026, marked the end of a 19-year era, that included 2 Superbowl appearances, 1 Superbowl trophy, and 19 non-losing seasons. This opened the door to a new chapter for the 2026 season with the hiring of Mike McCarthy as the Steelers head coach. As the team enters this transition, uncertainty remained — particularly at quarterback, where the future of Hall of Fame–caliber veteran Aaron Rodgers, now over 40, is still unclear. Yet despite these unknowns, the Black and Gold of Jax Beaches stands unwavering in our loyalty and support. Like steel under pressure, Steelers fans continue to forge ahead with strength, pride, and excitement for what lies ahead in 2026.
